Post your advice to the Congress on steps to take for course correction after recent rout in polls

The grand old party, Indian National Congress has received a resounding vote of no-confidence from the voters in 3 states while failing to come to power in Chattisgarh despite putting up a tough fight to the ruling BJP. This is seen as a precursor to the the Congress led UPA's ultimate defeat in the 2014 general elections. What do you think the Congress should do to revive its fortunes to prevent a debacle in 2014?

WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, HAVING SOLEMNLY RESOLVED TO constitute INDIA INTO A "SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC" AND to secure all its citizens: WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, HAVING SOLEMNLY RESOLVED TO constitute INDIA INTO A "SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC" AND to secure all its citizens: Should remember that there are bp monarchs among us, no can we divide the country into underpriviliged and priviliged classes. This division is merely a front to channelise resources to niche partners.

The Congress should dump the secularism facade, drop all freebies and doles to get votes.Do something that manufacturing in India improves, jobs are created, and get cracking to tackle the supply side constraints that are adding to inflation. If the states dont act it should take the power to go after hoarders.Put a gag order on all its leaders like D.Singh,B.Verma,remove all those above 65(the retirement age)except for some capable leaders.Probably the only no nonsense Minister is Mr.P.Chidambaram,he should be made the Prime Minister till the next elections.People cannot fooled anymore, all corrupt leaders should be booted out,it should be seen getting tough on corruption, and the police should be made independent of the political masters so that they do their duty when there are riots without fear.Maybe Congress still would have some chance of a respectable show in the next elections if I can show the electorate that it means business.

Advice to congress: 1) Be less arrogant and listen to the voices of the people and the opposition. If you are loosing so badly, there is obviously somethings you are doing very wrong. 2) Work on development and growth instead of depending the the argument "elect us to keep communal forces /Modi at bay". This no longer works. People will vote for BJP if there is development and job growth in their rule. 3)Stop ignoring the urban middle class, especially the salaried class.Their votes are no longer guaranteed by default. 4)Gag the likes of Digvijay Singh in your party.Every time they open their mouth the congress looses some votes. 5)Stop doling out freebies by way of schemes the name of the Gandhi clan and increasing subsidies (including food subsidy bills). These are recipes for economic disasters. Instead concentrate on job creation. 6)Inflation hurts the common man badly.Unless this is addressed be prepared to loose votes

The Congress should not allow Rahul Gandhi to be its official face. It should announce a new PM candidate, preferably from among its youth members (those in their forties). The part should also shed its obsession with Narendra Modi, as the elections in Delhi have clearly indicated that it is not a Modi-wave, but and anti-Congress-wave that has diminished its fortunes. The more you target Modi, the stronger he becomes.
