Is Prof C N R Rao's view that politicians are 'idiots' justified?

Bharat Ratna awardee, Prof C N R Rao, has been pretty vitriolic in voicing what he thinks about our netas, and has had no qualms in classifying them as idiots. His angst: He is upset about the inadequate funding that scientific projects in the country receive. There are several issues here. For starters, does the very basis for his outbursts -- poor funding of projects -- hold any water? Even if it does, has Rao gone overboard in using a term as offensive as 'idiot' and that too at a press conference? And what do you make of his diatribe given that it comes a day after being conferred India's highest civilian honour? Do share your views with us.

politics is critical role to hold one psychology and rule 100cr psychology is not easy the de end works to be decide is critical the only honest may achieve the the critical psychology to be sissified even some good project handled by the government

As no politician has objected to his remarks he should be correct.

CNR Rao is not a veteran public speaker like a politician or a Bollywood actor. He might not have been used to addressing press conferences and capturing media attention - he was staunchly engrossed his research. And therefore he may have vented out his displeasure with government authorities (with regards to inadequate funding), understandably in a not-so-diplomatic way. We, and the media, may not amplify this issue - and it's not at all sane to link it with Bharata Ratna.

As compared to veteran professionals ' YES ' besides spelled by Prof C N R Rao, at the spurt of the moment, in general of the politicians but not those hand picked professionals, into politics. As many are found mentally immature. When truth is spelled, its bitter. Thanks, Dr. Chandran Peechulli
