Let bank manage banking business. As such there is deficiency in services this would excl ate further. First let bank focus on reduction of bad loans and Non performing assets. Once Non Performing assets are reduced then only it may be thought for broking. Khanna

The move is neither good for bankers nor for insurerers nor for consumers. The result would be banks would become brokers, Insurancers would become paupers and Consumers would be ultimate losers.

Very sad. This is the Equivalent of Gramm-Leach-Billy Act.This is extremely dangerous and from now on the "lack of regulation", over banks,in India, is going to increase MANY-FOLD. India should have thought of the Glass-Stegall Act's Indian equivalent. But how can one expect the puppets of the IMF and the Globalists ,the UPA,to work for India? Please google for:- 1.Cobrapost sting operation on Indian banks 2.The Rs 25 lakh Crores loss by India Inc IN Derivatives in 2007/8

When there is lack of investors in the actual brokerage houses how could this mandate make investors to join in to banks for brokerages? Also the charges which banks are taking for the demat and brokerage is high as compared to only brokerage houses. Also there is problem in execution of the system as in India people only want bank to just do banking work, and there is more bank branch's in cities then the brokerage rooms of the existing banks who are providing the services. This will never increase the liquidity nor the investment sentiment of investors. I have the solution for the same but is payable. hahahaha...............
